The Importance of Cooking & Nutrition in the Curriculum.

In cooking and nutrition pupils learn about the health and safety precautions needed in a practical lesson, how to minimise cross-contamination and the risk that bacteria poses to food and surfaces.

Pupils look at the provenance of food and gain an understanding of where food comes from and how it is processed. Through practical lessons pupils learn to adapt or create their own dishes. Pupils are encouraged to design their own meals based around a given concept such as: street food and affordable family meals.

All pupils cook 90% savoury dishes using a range of cooking and preparation techniques.
