The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Goldington Academy is Mr Atkinson (Assistant Headteacher). The DSL is a senior staff member with the necessary status and authority to take responsibility for child protection matters.
The DSL will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and all child protection matters, including early help cases. The DSL will provide advice and support to other staff on child welfare and child protection matters, take part in strategy discussions and interagency meetings, and/or support other staff to do so, and contribute to the assessment of children. To contact Mr Atkinson, either call the school office or click here to email him directly.
The Deputy Designated Lead (DDSL) is Mrs Jones (Head of Year Seven). The Deputy Designated Lead works with the DSL to ensure that there is appropriate cover in the DSL’s absence. Mrs Jones is also the designated teacher for Looked After Children (LAC) and Previously Looked After Children (PLAC). The role of the Designated Teacher is to promote the educational achievement of looked-after children at the school and to promote the educational achievement of previously looked-after pupils who are no longer looked after because they are the subject of an adoption, special guardianship or child arrangements order.
Each Head of Year has also undertaken safeguarding training to the same level as the safeguarding leads.
