Welcome to the Goldington Academy website and can I wish everybody a very successful spring term 2026! You will find much useful information about our school on our website.
Engendering a love of reading is at the heart of Goldington Academy. Our Library houses a collection of material which supports both reading for pleasure and the students’ curriculum activities. The collection is constantly being updated and includes books, magazines and online resources. Students are encouraged to feel a sense of ownership in their Library and contribute to collection development, displays, and help in the running of the library through issuing and returning books, shelving, and contributing to the termly Library newsletter.
The Library is open before school, at break and lunch times and after school for quiet reading and independent study. The aims of our library are:
-
To offer pupils a diverse range of fiction and non-fiction;
-
To ensure equal access to learning, offering books that are suitable for all ages, SEND requirements and reading ages;
-
To use displays to promote books and key calendar events;
-
To inspire pupils with a range of new authors and releases;
-
To provide GCSE revision materials to be used for reference in the library;
-
To stock careers related books, pamphlets, newspapers and other relevant information to support students in their post:16 choices;
-
To offer students books which help them to build resilience and develop their mental health;
-
To promote a positive attitude to reading;
All students in key stage three have fortnightly Library Lessons during English. During these sessions students take part in book related discussions, quizzes and activities, are given the opportunity to swap their books, and encouraged to engage in reading.
The Library uses AccessIT management system. Click here to access the system to view library stock. Students can log in to AccessIT to leave book reviews, search the catalogue, reserve items, and create lists of resources that interest them.
